STATE COAL MINE APPOINTMENTS.
« Mr HcDougall Probable Commercial Representative Mr Allison Mine Manager. From an East Coast paper we gleam that at a recent meeting of Cabinet it was resi'ved to appoint a commercial representative for the distribution of coal from the State collieries to shipping, railways, etc. There are several applicants for the position, but it is believed that Mr M'Dougall, well known in connection wi>h tlie Port Elizabeth Coal Company, has a capital show for obtaining it. In re-pect to tbe manager of tbe State collieries:, the Cabinet will select Mr Lindop's successor shortly. It is thought that Mr Mr Robert Allison will be the probable appointee, provided satisfactory ariangements can be made for him to leave bis present position in the Brunner mine. The namea of two other gentlemen, well known'in mining circles, ana also freely mentioned as likely to obtain the post. Mr Bishop, it) is understood is one of those here referred to.
