Great Fire at Colney Hatch

A kigh wind was blowing and the annexe was quickly ,a mass of flames. The pipe leading to the artesian well was under repairs, and the water supply was scarce. Many fire brigades were in attendance. The Asylu-t officials and attendants made heroic efforts to save the patients, hut they experienced difficulty in getting the afflicted to understand their peril. Many resisted their attempts to r scup. Numbers were overpowered in the corridors. Twe nurses perished. The latest report gives the number .- <?f deaths at 6ffcy. Paris, January 27. The King of Abyssinia has notified France that ke will be unable to anive . at Jibutil by the date fixed for the opening of the railway. The previously arranged risit has therefore been postponed.
