• (PER PRKSS ASSOCIATION). Ashburton, Jan 27. A tornado of extiaordinary force, and in a narrow compass, passed over a portion of Ashburton shortly after one o'clock, destroying everything in its track. The large sheds of the Farmers' Co-Op and D Thomas's w-re p.rtly demolished. The timber in Tucker's yards was scattered and carried a hundred yards away. Windows in the other business premises were smashed by flying pieces of timber and iron, and other damage wa. done.
