The cricket match commenced shortly befoie midday in a drizziing rain, which lasted all day, and at the liter stages of ttie proceedings interfered somewhat with the play. The English mtn won the toss and went to the wicket. Eighteen of the local 22 fielded. The weather was in favor of the batsmen, the ball being greasy. At 3 45 the Englishmen were all out for 204, the principal scores being — Dowson 94, Johnson 28, Leatham 14, Bosanquet 22, Whatman 18. Bowling analysis — Watty 3 for 37, Greenfield 3 for 30, Godfrey 2 for 2, Hortou 1 for 35. Marlborough went in and in a quarter of an hour four wickets had gone for 4 runs, Weld making 2. Three ducks followed, aud Bottiel (not out) having 2to his crelit. Thompson took 3 wickets for 2, Burnup I for 2.
