NEW YORK COAL COMPANIES.
The American Strike. [per press association,] [by electric telegraph— copyright.] (Recfoived Oct 4, at 0 57 a ni). New York, Oct 3. The Coal Companies are providing elevated railroads, schools and the hospitals of New York with a sufficiency of coal ; also the poor with small quantities and at low prices. Counsel will be given by President Roosevelt at to-day's conference to discuss the strike, which will be limited to appeal on humanit-trian considerations, he having no powers re compulsion.
