Supreme Court Sittings.
[per press association.] Invercarill, February 6. At the Supreme Court F Loftus pleaded not guilty of personating John Loftus at the M^taura election. After hearing some evidence His Honor said it appeared to have been unintentional. For the defence it was stated that accused had been on the roll some years ago, and not finding his name on the latest roll assumed that the name John should have been Frank. The Crown Prosecutor said that if the defence put witness in the box he might be able to show that the offence was not so innocent as it looked. Accused at this stage withdrew the plea of not guilty and the offence was admitted. His Honor sentenced him to one hour'r imprisonment. "Won Lye Kong pleaded guilty to stealing gold, the property of himself and
mates, and was sentenced to two months' hard labor, His Honor, as on previous occasions, declining to admit a foreigner to probatien.
