Jolm Thomas Vlilburn, 12 years old, wis charged at the police court to-day with felonously killing and murd-iing. John Cunuingham 14 ye-fs of age. Cunningham advanced and kicked Milburn who was peeliDg a stick with a knife. Milburn at once struck Cnnningham with the knife in his hand. Milburn went home and Cunningham commenced to cry and then fell, when his father was sent for. As a rule Milburn and Cunningham were very friendly. The jury after ten minutes consultation returned a verdict of manslaughter and added rider that Milburn struck deceased without thinking he had a knife in his hand at time. The directors of the Westport Coal Coy report that the profit for the year after providing for depreciation etc. was L 18,362 4s 2d, t© which has to be added L 6.179 8s 9d carried forward, making a total of L 24,541.
