FOOTBALL.
Grey 2nds v Nelson Creek.
The above match which was played at Nelson Creek, on Saturday, resulted in a win for Nelson Creek by 6 points to three. The game was of a most primitive character, the players being allowed to do what they lik d in regard to 'offside, while the epithets hurled at one another by the home team would not have been tolerated for five minutes on any oiher ground on the Coast, G<ey crossed the line oa five or six occassions, but for some un accountable . reason t i°s were disallowed. The on'y redeeming feature ot the match was the run by M'lnroe for Nelson Creek when he scored. It is about time the Rugby Union appointed referees for these country matches, and so do away with such fiascos as last Saturday's game proved to be. In view of the match with Blackball the Union would do well to see that au efficient referee is appointed.
