Castlehow, who had been adjudicated a bankrupt on Jan 10 was committed for trial on a charge of having within 3 years before bankruptcy failed to keep proper books of account and further with incurring debts and liabilities and with hay ing obtained credit under false pretences. Thos. Munro was committed for trial on a charge of having committing perjury at DarfieldonMarch3o. T. R. Cresswell of VYanganui has been appointed head master of the Rangiora High School. On Thursday afternoon Robert M'Farland, manager until quite recently of the Ashburton branch of the Bank of New South Wales, while handling a pea rifle it exploded, shooting himself in the head. Dunedin, April 23. A child named Percy Gallagher, four years old, was drowned at the wharf this afternoon while playing with some other children.
