Nelsox, April 19. About 1500 people were present for tho first day's racing of the Nelson meeting, L2OOO being put through the tote. The results are : — First Hurdles — Coin 1, Le Grande 2, Glencora (late Miss Sykcs) 3. Jumbo and Conservative also aburfced. Time 35 ; div Li 18. Jumbo started second favorite on machines, but went ao easily that the. stewards considered his running and disqualified tho horso and jockey for the meeting. First Hack — Ejector 1, Singleshot 2, Right Metal 3. Seabird, Millstroam and Bouncer also started. Div L 2 2s. Cup— Cress's Volley (M'Pherson) 1, Paul's Pom P, mi 2, Hillstone 3. Won. by a length. Time 2 19 ; div L 2 14s. Saddle Trot— Cable 1, Norah 2, Pilot 3. Div L 2. Welter Hack— Hotu 1, Right Metal 2, Millstream 3. Lady Helena, Seabird and Bouncer also started. Div L 2 Bs. The stewards met and enquired into the running of Lady Helena. Mr Hammond, the owner, said his instructions were to get away from the jump and do his best, but did not think his instructions had been carried out; but could understand the heavy weight rider not perseveri?ig with her when she got a bad start. The stewards decided to suspend the owner, rider and horse for the meeting. Grand Stand Handicap— Watson's Osborne 1, Paul's Pom Pom 2, Seabreeze 3.
