METROPOLITAN CLUB DISPUTE

(KTTMAiA. TIMES, OCTOBER 26.) A meeting: of Racing Clubs representing •-Hokitika, Kumars, and Ross was held at the Kumara Racing Club's Room, Stewart's Hotel, last evening. ' The Westland (Hokitika) Club was represented by the Hon J. A. Bonar and Mr R. W. Wade; Rosb Club by Mobbm J. Grimmond. M.H.R., and James C. Macfarlane ; and the Kumara Club by Messrs H. Burger andD. M'Connon. The Greymouth Rac- . ing Club were invited to send delegates, but declined, the Secretary telegraphing, In reply, that "The Greymouth Metropolitan Club will convene meetings when considered necessary. Rules of Racing, 1889, will be strictly adhered to." We j are nnable, through a pressure of other matter, to give full particulars in this Issue. The following resolution, proposed by Mr Grimmond, wab adopted, the j Kumara delegates dissenting : — " That this meeting protects against the appointment of the Grey Jockey Club asMetropolitan Club of the Provincial District of Weatland under Rule 1, Rules of Racing, 1889, that decision having been arrived at by the delegates at a meeting of which the clubs here represented, viz, Hokitika, Ross, and Kumara, had no knowledge of. But the Kumara Club does no' object to the Grey Club bebg considered the Metropolitan Club of the Racing Association formed by the Grey, Kumara, and Ahaura Clubs." The latter part of the resolution was framed in the hope of meeting the objection of th* Kumara Club to the first part of the resolution.
