BRUNNERTON.
[from our correspondent. I Brunnerton, September 5. The election of a committee for carrying out the annual sports takes place tonight (Thursday), and as the people in this district are very fond of athletic sports there is every reason to expect that a good strong committee will be appointed. The ground Is situated at a Bite which, when the Wallsend bridge is finished, must be considered most central ; and as the prizes given during the last two or three years have been larger than at any ; place of its size in New Zealand, a great amount of attention from runners and jumpers will natural'y be paid to this district in the future. The trustees have gone to a very great deal of trouble and a large outlay of money to make it one of the beßt tracks in New Zealand. The only thing that seems to be really wanting 1 now is a grand stand. Oh, that some charitably disposed person would drop amongst us for a time and satisfy all our wants ! The Black Diamond Football Club intend challenging the Reefton Football Club to a friendly game, being afraid that there will be no chance of a return match with the Grey team. Practice is being steadily carried on, and no doubt if a good team could spare the time to go to Reefton they would be able to give a good account of themselves. .
