[from oor correspondent.] September 21. Mr Guinness addressed the electors at the schoolroom to-night. Mr Howie was voted to the chair, and introduced the candidate, asking a patient hearing tor him. Mr Guinness's address was a
resume of his other speeches in the district. A number -of questions were answered, one of which was asking if he was in favor of sending the draft of every bill that is brought up to the various libraries. Mr Guinness thanked the questioner for the suggestion, promising if returned to attend to it, as he was aware that reading the debate was often misleading on account of not knowing the proper wording of the bill. Proposed by Mr M'Millan that Mr Guinness is a fit and proper person to represent us in Parliament. Seconded by Mr Langford. An amendment was proposed by Mr Ewartt that a vote of thanks only be carried, seconded by Mr Thomas. Motion carried, only nine voting for the amendment.
A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
