The Council resumed at 9.10 p.m., v/hen the County Engineer's report was further considered. Culvert and Section Main Grey Valley Road near Calligan's Creek.— Stating the alterations and improvements made in the grade. — Approved of. . . Marsden to Greenstone Junction. — Suggesting that a contract, be let for maintenance for 12 months.— Resolved that tenders becalled.for 12: months' maintenance, and the bridge at the bottom of the hill to be repaired. Fro Mi's. track, Ahaura River. — The track is very bad, being knee deep, and temporary repairs useless. — Consideration adjourned till next meeting. Complaint by Mr Rees about" obstruction of Iracks toßiverview. — The obstruction consists of a barb wire fence erected

by Mr M'Laughlin, which he declines to remove, as it is on his own land. To avoid this it would be necessary to construct 15 chains of new road, at an expense of £18. — Consideration deferred till next meeting. Orwell Creek Road. —Tenders to be called for repairs and maintenance for 12 months. * Gravelling Section No. 5 Main Grey Valley Road, Totara Flat.— The report gave a list of the eligible sites for gravel beds along the flat from Potham's, with a list of the prices per acre which the different owners required for the sale of them.— Consideration deferred till later. Resolved— That a committe of the Council bring up a report on Mullins's case. A letter was read from T. Tomkies applying for compensation for a narrow strip of land alongside the road which had become valueless. — No notice was taken i of the letter, as the Council considered I sufficient compensation had already been [ given. Granville Creek Road— Resol red that the bridge be repaired by centreing. Track No Name Creek— To be repaired, at an expense of about £10. Blackball to Moonlight — A track had been blazed for 15 miles, but the work had been stopped by the snow, and would be resumed when the weather got better. P. Horan applied for repairs to a track on the North Beach. — Agreed to, expense nob to exceed £6. Ahauva Cemetery — Suggesting that the tracks between the different denominations be gravelled, the other necessary works having been done. — Subject not pressed. This finished the Overseers's report. The rate collector's report wa3 read, and a discussion ensued as to whether the special rate for the Arnold and New River bridges should be collected. Ultimately the report was adopted, and the collector" instructed to collect the special rate. GRAVEL SITES. Resolved — That the County Chairman communicate with the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Nelson, applying for gravel sites on the Grey Valley and Reef ton road, and on the Ahaura to Amuri track. --- XT BARRYTOWN. Cr pyall moved that an application be madeVto the Commissioner of Crown Lands; Nelson, for a site for a cemetery at Barryfcown. R"?AD MAINTENANCE. Resolved — That tenders be called for the maintenance and repairs of sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, Main Grey Road ; also, sections 1, 2, and 3 Dunganville road, the Overseer to define where the gravel is to be obtained on the several sections. Resolved — That the sureties of the contractors on the Main Grey Valley road be 50 per cent, on the amount of the contract. Adjourned business was then proceeded with. Nelson Creek Water Race. — Consideration deferred till next meeting. | Report in the matter' of salaries to clerks of licensing committees. — Deferred till next meeting.
