AUSTRALIAN NEWS.
(Received January 6, at 1 p.m.) HOT WEATHER IN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, January 6. Intense heat has prevailed during the past two days in South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania. No fewerthan eight deaths from sunstroke have occurred. In Adelaide serious bush fires are rep rted in various localities. In Victoria and Otway ranges, in the Western district, a tract of country 45 miles in extent is in flames.
