WARDEN'S COURT, NELSON CREEK.

Thursday, December 3rd, 1885, (Before Major Keddell, Warden.) Charles Steingrove applied for protection to claims at No. 3 Creek. Granted. Timothy Crow and party applied for an extended claim., Granted. James Morris applied for an extended claim. The consent of the County Council having been obtained in respect to a track, the application was granted subject to the conditions imposed. C. Parfitt. — Application under section 31 of the Mines Act. Mr Guinnesa for applicant. Considerable evidence was taken in support of the objections lodged, but as the case is sub judice, publication ia withheld, the Court regretting that there was no power of appeal under the Mines Act from the decision of the Warden in cases of application for any rights. The application was adjourned sine die. After the Court was over, the Warden, in company with Mr Guinnesa and the member for the riding (Mr Parfitt), inspected the ground, and the newly-erected machinery of the Band of Hope Company. The party also inspected the claim of Sinnot and party at the foot of Dry Gully, in which claim very good gold has been obtained. It is needless to state that all available ground has been taken up on the north bank of the river from Potts's bridge westerly to the bend of the river aboveJDrennan's freehold. No doubt the south bank of the river opposite this locality will be tried, where private property does not interfere.
