THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
Wellington, January 21. At the Wesleyan Conference this morning letters of sympathy were sent to the Revs G. Stannard, Wallis, and Aldred, who were unable to attend the Conference through extreme age. Arrangements were made to receive a temperance deputation on Wednesday. Mr Joughin was accepted as a student candidate for the ministry. At the Wesleyan Conference this afternoon the reportß of the examination committee were read by the Rev. W. Williams. The papers of the following probationers were deemed satisfactory, and they were passed in their several years : — The Revs. Parsonson, Pinfold, Slade, Garland, Griffiths, Jones, Willis, Marshall, and Mather. During the year three venerable ministers have died, viz. : Revs. John Hobbs, T. Buddie, and John Warren. Obituary notices of these were read by the secretary, and testimoney was bore by many of the ministers touching the personal worth and services rendered by the departed to the cause of religion among both the Europeans and the natives of the colony.
