TELEGRAMS.
GREY RIVERARG US SPECIAL WIRE. EAST AND WEST COAST RAILWAY. Kumara December 20. Messrs Thornton and Brown, promoters of the East and West Coast Railway, had an interview with tha Kumara Railway Committee on Saturday afternoon last. The County Chairman, Mayor, and other influential members of the Committee being present. The engineers having explained the proposals to make the railway by a private company, gave a description of the route proposed. The Committee then passed the following resolution: — "That the Committe approve of the scheme laid before them, and will co-operate to the best of their power in promoting the formation of the railway proposal between the East and West Coast via Hurunui, Cannibal Gorge, Reefton, Ahaura,, Arnold, Greymouth, Kumara, and Hokhika." The Committee then accompanied the engineers to the goldfields, and {pointed out tho resources of the district.
