SHIPPING CASUALTIES.
[AUSTRALASIAN SHIPPING NEWS, NOV. 9.] Ino, German barque, Melbourne to Adelaide, returned to the former port on sth instant, having sprung a leak in a severe gale off Cape Northumberland. Queen of the South, s.s, of Adelaide, got aground at the Murray River entrance on 4th instant; a considerable portion of her cargo was lost, but the vessel was got off safely and taken to Goolwa. Salve, schooner, Va?se, W. A., to Wallaroo, S.A., sprung a leak w 25th ultimo, and was run ashore at Port Augusta the following day to save life; It is feared that she is a total wreck. Sarah B. Hale, whaling barque, of New Bedford, signalled the Hankow, a.s, London to Melbourne, on 4th ultimo, in latitude 9 S, longitude W, that her captain was ill and in need of advice ; the steamer's doctor accordingly went" on board and supplied all that was necessary. Shannon, brig, Newcastle to Melbourne, carried away her forestay, foretopmast stays, and some of the head as she was beating rinto Port Phillip Heads on 3rd inst. •Strathspey, barque, Charente to Melbourne, lost one of her boats, which was smashed by a sea breaking over her on 9th ultimo, in latitude 36*32 S, longitude 60 E ; the same sea also did considerable damage to her bulwarks. Wallaroo, steam dredge, Glasgow to Adelaide, has put into Falmouth for repairs, and wonld be put into dock for that purpose. Wa'yerley, brig, Sydney to Adelaide, got on the ground at the latter port tor a short time on the evening of 30th ultimo, but sustained no injury. _Weymonth, barque, Adelaide to London, had her lower topsails blown away during a hurricane on June 24th ; the sea caused considerable damage on deck.
