The heavy nor'-wester of the previous day brought home a terrific sea yesterday— in fact, one of the heaviest this seasonpreventing anything crossing outward or inward. The s.s Maori lay off the bar till tide time, but seeing no probability of entering, steered out to sea. As things were quieting down last night, it if hoped the bar will be passable to-day. The B.s Wallabi and Star of the South are reported to be at Westport, and may be expected to-day should the weather prove favorable.
