[per Jgreville's telegraph company., reuter's agents. ] Hokitika, Feb. 20. Jack Monahan's cottage, North Revell street, was burnt down, at noon to-day. The building was fortunately detached, water being unobtainable till its destruction was complete. Charleston, Feb. 20. A meeting has been called for toj morrow to take steps to aid, the Greymouth sufferers. Mr Broad, EM. and Warden has been appointed permanently to the charge of Inangahua. Dr Giles is to take charge of the three districts— Westport, Charleston and Brighton. Great dissatisfaction here. Blenheim, Feb. 20. Seymour, is returned for the Wairau by a majority of 39. Ward workedwell on the protectionist ticket. There was great excitement over the election. Dunedin, Feb. 20. A serious affray has occurred at Black's between Chinamen and Europeans. A general melee, was caused by the Chinamen complaining of the short weight of meat sold to them. One Chinaman was severely wounded in the head with a shovel, and a European had his arm broken. Morgan, a butcher, has been arrested.
