ASSEMBLY TATTERSALL'S.

LATEST BETTING. [Br thk Fbiak.] The Assembly Tatteraall's presents a thronged appearance nightly, and the close approach of the fatal 9th has caused a very large amount of business to be done, and the wildest rumors are afloat as to the results of the various events that will be deoided tomorrow. In Lyttelton, The Navvio holds his own firmly, and it is only at 10 to 1 that business can be effected on The Artlat, whilst Cobweb Is not enquired for. lam glad to report that considerable sums have changed hands on Wynnstay, who will no doubt give a good account of himself. As for Drum-Major, I hear he has been coughing somewhat, and Is in anything but good condition. Old Stonewaller is not in that condition his friends would wish for, and he has receded considerably in the betting. The Sydenham entries are all hard at It, and Qailldriver is still a firm favorite, although Whiteboy has improved very much, and it will be a close tussle between them at the finish, whilst the condition of Stonechatter and Mortmain is not suoh as to entitle great confidence, particularly the latter,- who is still a roarer, and awfully unreliable. He has been beaten twice, and I think, honestly, no flukes in creation will ever put him to the fore, and he is out of the betting altogether. In Ohristohnroh South Metallician still holds his own, and the old quotations are well sustained, although bets are freely offered and taken on behalf of Capias, who still remembers that he can kick ouo like a mule. The Christchnrch North nags are both in the betting, although Time o* Day is a long way first favorite, and the reason why Old Cremation does not inspire more confidence is owing to his aotion at the 10 per cent. Hurdles and the Honorarium Jump, which has lost him a lot of friends. Georgics remains first favorite for the Lincoln Hurdles, although The Priest is enquired for. This is bound to be a severe tussle, and they are both good 'urn. Still Georgics finds most favor. For Selwyn Primus will have it all his own way, and the fraternity will only book bets on him, on the condition of their receiving heavy odds. Blockhead stands at ICO to 1. Billy Pattens is much inquired for at Stanmore, and Peter Flat is not without a following, whilst Folle Farine is out in the cold at 80 to 1, and all shrug their shoulders at that. Tramoar is in good odour for the St. Albans Stakes, but Old Mawworm is deoidedly to the lee ward, and a few shots are put on Banco, who has had too sparing a preparation. Old Millowner is still first in favor for Kaiapoi—which his condition justifies. The Ashley nags are all a moderate lot, and nothing is doing on the behalf of either, although Bucolics is the best of the bunoh. For Cheviot, Old Hydropath, the victor on the last ocoasion, is deservedly popular, although The Wraith is backed for a considerable sum, whilst poor old Fender is considered certain of third place. For Wakanui Knickerbocker is considered a moral, yet Mailboy is fanoied by some at odds, but the Poet is considered a "gone •Don "at3oto 1. For the Geraldine Cup, Old Wakeful is all there in the market, although Postboy does not lack friends ; and at Timaru honors are divided betwixt Gibbious and Ole BhII, Billy Patteson being quoted at 60 to 1. For the Gladstone Hurdles, The Doctor has the call, although Sooty runs him very close in price j whilst at Waimate the big raking horse Carmina Yaria is first favorite. I append the latest quotations, so far as can be reliably ascertained : SOUTH cniUSTCHURCII. Metallician, even (tk) Capias, 10 to 3 (off) NORTH CHRISTCHURCH.
