Drunkenness. —For first offences two women were fined 5s each. Illegally on Premises.— Henry Peterson, who had gone to a lady’s house and alarmed her there by his wild behaviour, was charged with the above offence. He had gone into tho house, and, with a candle, professed to bo searching for some woman who ho said had robbed him* Mr Blood, who hod

helped to turn prisoner out of the house, said prisoner appeared to bo drunk at the time, and the lady very much afraid of him. Ine police stated that prisoner had been a scullery man at some hotel in tho town, but was lately on the spree. Ho was sentenced to fortyeight hours’ imprisonment with hard labor. LARCENY. —Elizabeth Alpe, a girl about fourteen years old, was charged by Mr T. Jacobson, in whose employment she had boon as domestic servant, with stealing from his bouse a gold chain and gold ring, valued at £6. She pleaded guilty. The Magistrate ordered her to bo remanded for one week. In the meantime, if her father could find a responsible person up country willing to take her into service, ho would endeavor to deal with her case without convicting her. The police were requested to see that she was kept separate while under remand.
