CANTERBURY CLUB, A meeting of the above club was held at the Shades last evening, for the purpose of paying over the stakes run for at the Rangiora meeting. Present—Messrs W. GK Walker, W. Browne, 0. Adkin, B. Deacon, B. Ravenhill, W. Judge, W. H. Porter, J. Piper, and B. B. Hill. A letter was read from Messrs Coates and Co., regretting their inability to have the Licensed Victuallers’ Cup finished in time for presentation at the meeting. The following stakes were paid over : Publicans’ Plate. First dog, piece of plate, presented by Licensed Victuallers, value, £45, with .£3O added money; runner up, .£ls ; third dog, £5. Hr C. Adkin’a Matchem, plate and .£3O. Mr P. Butler, runner np. Van Dieman, £ls. Mr M. Smith, third dog, Nikoia, late Bab, £5.
