POST OFFICE NOTICES
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations FRIDAY, JANUARY 17. Supplementary mails for the United Kingdom via Southampton and Brindisi, will close on Friday, January 17th, at 7.30 a.m., for despatch overland per express train to connect with mail Bteamor at Port Chalmers. For Wellington, Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika, per Star of the South, at 3.15 p.m.; late (eo letters, 3.35 p.m.; late letter box, guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. For Kaikoura and Wellington, per Im, at 4.45 p.m. Late letter box, guard’s van, must not be used for Tui’s mails. SATURDAY, JANUARY 18. For Chatham Islands, per Island Lily, at 11 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom will close at Christchurch on January 31st, and will be due in Loudon on March 18th.
NOTICE,
A travelling Post Office having been established ©n the Southern line of railway, letters hearing a late fee of two pence may he posted at any station in the mail carriage attached to the express train, and they will he included in the mails made up in transit for offices on the main line and branches.
