The City of Sydney arrived shortly before 1 a.m. She left San Francisco on the afternoon of December 23rd. Had gales and moderate weather to Honolulu, which was made in seven days twentyone hours, the fastest time in which the trip has ever been done. On the 11th, when IGO miles from Auckland, the crank pin broke. It was repaired as well as possible, and the vessel started again at the the rate of five knots. Up to the time of the accident the engines never worked better, the ship having averaged 301 miles a day for seventeen consecutive days from Sau Francisco, an almost unparalleled run. She brings 128 tons cargo for New Zealand.
