TE KAItAKA R.S.A. (Special to tlie Times. ) At tlie annual meeting of the R.S.A. Sports 'Club the selection- of officers resulted: President, Mr. A. W. J. Claydcn; viqe : p|rosident, Mr. J. Goodley; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Nisbett; eon. auditor, Mr. J.* G. Appleton ; -emergency committee, the above mentioned officers and Messrs. S. Smithers and O. Mills. General committee, all abovo mentioned and Messrs. J'. V. Castles, J l '. Hobbs, 0. Paton, A. Cameron, J. Graham,. 0. Fisher, L. Earnshaw, A. Hay, Stanley and B. AfeCaulay. It was decided to place on record the club’s appreciation of the- work of the retiring president, Mr. S. S'. Smithers, and a vote-yf thanks-was passed to Mr. J. G. Keane for his ever-ready assistance, to tlie club, it was decided to hold the usual Easier Monday sports. Appreciation was expressed for Mr. Alexander’s offer to donate a cup to be competed for in poi dancQs and hakas. A suggestion that a fund should be created by the club for the assistance of local “Diggers.” was referred to the annual R.S.A. meeting. Prior to the sports mocking an R.S.A. meeting presided over by Mr. S Smithers, was held and it was decided to hold the annual reunion in March. A discussin arose as to some suitable community hospital system for returned soldiers and their families. The system used by the Danncvirke R.S.A. branch was thought a sound one and it was decided to forward a remit to the Gisborne executive that -some such system nr’ght bo arranged with* Cook Hospital Board. 'A motion of condolwas passed to the relatives of the late Air J. B. Povutcr.

GA RDENING CIRCLE

Aleinbers of the Whatatutu Gardening Circle and visitors from Ormond and Gisborne, spent a delightful time at the February meeting, which was hold at the home of Airs. A. AfcLeod, “AVaircre.” Alanv played tennis, while other strolled into the near-by bush and gathered ferns. Airs. Crane. Gisborne gave an instructive "lecture in the preparation of seed boxes, and the planting of seedlings, and the roll call, “Shrubs for Layering,” brought forth many bright ideas. Allen, Gisborne, leave on Afonday for Auckland to join the Awatca en route for Sydney. Airs. Price and Airs. Allen are to make a world tour and will arrive in London for Coronation Week. Thoyw ill make a return trip by the Canadian route, spending six weeks in Canada, where Miss Price has relatives.
