A letter was read from., the vicepresident of the AVomen’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, stating that the Dominion president, Airs C. K. Wilson, would bo in 'Gisborne this month and it was intended to have a garden- party on February 19 at the homo of Airs E. R.. Black, 12 Graham road. This would give Airs AVilson an opportunity to speak -on the work of the division, .and also, to raise funds to further the division’s housekeeping scheme. Members of the: union and their wives and families were invited to he- present. The division would also be grateful if any help could be. given by ’the union.

The chairntan (All* F. S. Bowen), said that in .several cases where a wife or a husband has been laid up the division had done most valuable work and deserved every support. The secretary, Air C. Blackburn, said the division had -already placed eight housekeepers in this- district. Air J. C. Field contended that the union was not doing enough to help the division. He urged that -something more should be done, beyond mere attendance at the garden party. Tho division sent housekeepers to a house in case of sickness, or where the owners were run down and needed a trip away. The chairman suggested that if members could not attend, they should send donations of food, etc., and the matter then dropped.
