FILMS FOR MATINEES BURY, England) June 12. The problem of providing suitable Saturday (afternoon matinees for children has been solved bv one English cinema, proprietor in this town of Lancaster. The management has formed a club among .itsi young patrons, with: 700 members enrolled during Dio first four weeks. From this number.' a committee of nine, whose ages ,'rango fuem'S) to 14, have been elected, and it is t'he>r duty to interpret the film tastes of their fellow members. Action, it lias been found, is the greatest, tles'rc of these young cinema “fans” 'and the management is showing pictures which 'meet with their wishes. “M'ckcy Mouse” cartoons, colored “S'lly Symphonies”, and “Our Gang” prod lit lions are prime favorites. '. The children arc also revealing: a decided taste for films of an educational chaiiaeer, particularly those which show them “what to do” aud “how to do •it.”
