LITTLE DANCER.

BUS TURNING AT BETTIES’. MANAGER’S REPORT. Commenting on a recent suggestion made by (Jr. J. Webb in the Borough Council as to the danger of the bus when turning at Potties’ corner, the bus manager (Mi;. K. G. Ball) m his report to the council last evening stated that the buses were turned at a reasonable speed and a proper look-out is kept by the drivers. “The present turning, place is by far the most convenient,” states the report, “and any change would inflict hardship on the bus department. There are rather many stops on bus routes, making it difficult to keep to time-table during busy periods, therefore any extra delays are not looked for. The signal hand is the type approved by the transport regulations, and a larger type could not be used. The hand is connected with the rear stop light which gives 'warning when a turn is commenced. “Buses could, of course, stop at the Loan and Mercantile Company before turning, but, if this is done, the effort of swinging the bus iroiii rest is much greater for the drivers. Most of the buses will just manage the turn, and if stopped will not clear the kerb at Potties Ltd. The effort of steering against the road camber on full lock horn rest is very considerable. “I consider that there is little danger provided the buses are turned at a reasonable, speed; the correct signal 1 given i and,a proper look-out kept o\ the drivers, who have been mstrifet?d to observe all traffic rules.” The report was adopted.
