WOOL LEVY ROYAL AGRICULT UR A L SOCIETY APPROVES PRINCIPLE (Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 2. Tiie principle of a. wool levy to provide funds for research and propaganda., to combat competition of other textiles and synthetic fibres, was unanimously approved at the annual meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society to-day. Mr A. H. Cockayne announced that lie was at the moment endeavouring to finalise the preparation of legislation dealing with a levy on wool.

HOME MEAT MARKET. I'ho Bank of Australasia is in receipt, of the following cable from its London office, dated July 1: ‘•Fresh heat and chilled beef were affected seriously owing to recent hot weather and thunderstorms ; consequently, frozen lambs were in fair demand and the market fairly steady. No change is at prisonl anticipated. Frozen mutton: More enquiries for wethers and prices firm; ewes only selling slowly; market slightly weaker.
