The body, which was fully clothed, was face upwards, with the knees bent. The head was twisted sideways, and the woman’s long dark hair, which was stained with blood, had fallen forward over her lace and neck, hiding the strong string which had been twisted tightly round her neck. A wound in the forehead had bled freely. The victim had been living in Darlingluirst. An examination of the body showed that, the woman had been dead for at least four days, and possibly longer. All the evidence indicated a carefully planned and callously executed murder. It is believed that the woman was attacked without warning, and probably stunned by tlio blow on the forehead before she was strangled. _
