Tlio Manchester Guardian’s Pans correspondent-says that well-informed diplomatic quarters believe ’that Germany has-approved the restoration of the Hapsburg. As a preliminary thereto Dr. Schusclinigg proposes an amnesty in the next few weeks to Socialists and Communists. Dr. Schuschnigg aims at securing German approval of Hie restoration
It is hoped that if the Hapshurgs aro backed by Germany the Little Entente is less likely to mobilise as its members had previously- threatened. - Austria l would thus .technical! •• remain- independent though strongly under German influence. • '• GENEVA. July 2.
Y.ugo Slavia has resolved to invade Austria if the Ilapsburgs are restored, 4 whereupon Italy world attack Ytigo Slavi;i. Britain and .France, arcs most apprehensive in regard to the situation, as neither is willing to be plunged in war on account of the Ilapsburgs.
They arc disappointed at Dr. Sschnschnigg’s rejection of the somewhat peremptory Anglo-French invitation to come to Geneva. -■
