NORTHERN COASTAL ITEMS COMPLIMENTARY SOCIAL (Special to the Times.; On Monday even ins, Te Araroa Hall was the scene uf -a. delightful complimentary social and- dance, ari anged by the parishioners -of VVha-.. kaangiangi and Te Araroa Anglican' Church as a farewell to the Rev. J. J. Anderson who are leaving the Coast. The Aka tea Orchestra Company supplied the music gratis. Much appreciated extras were played by Mrs S. Rudland and Miss L. V itters. A delightful diversified musical programme was contributed by Misses J. and L. Witters (Gisborne), K. and M. Hughe® and Jnnd M. Rudland. Hie accompaniments were played by Mrs Run a Brown. Three diverting competitions arrangedj by Mr and Mrs Halliwell , provided much merriment. After a If delicious supper, Mr Halliwell. presenting the guests of honor with a substantial cheque, made appreciative reference to their great- service, not only for the church butl for the benefit of almost every organisation, in the district. Mr Halliwell on bohalf of the Rongomaitupari Institute (Hicks Bay',| also presented Mrs) An-do:-son with o large piece of their b'rtlidfly cake. Mr Anderson, in reply, thanked Mr Halliwell for his kind remarks and for the spirit that had prompted the gift. During Ills B ,y years residence on the Coast, lie had made many friends and would always have many happy memories of the people scattered throughout the East Coast district, the* isolation of which in the early days had developed a hospitable qpen-hearted-people. He regretted that, owing to distance, he had been unable to give the people the fullest- ministration. Mr Anderson especially thanked those p esent on behalf of his wife for all the nice things they had Had about her in regard to- the invaluable assistance she hnd given him in the work of the parish. Airs Anderson wa-s wearing a graceful frock ol black velvet trimmed with lace j and coatee to- match. The frock was j| ornamented on the bodice with a- v led rose -and diamante clasp.
