PLUNKET BABIES

PHOTOGR APHIC 'COMPETITION'.

OVER £240 ALREADY REALISED

With only to-day and to-morrow to in intensity, and votes for the candimost beautiful baby competition grows iu iutnesity, and votes for the candidates are rolling in continuously. To-day, commencing at 10 a.in. the first progress results announcing the leaders in the various classes will be shown - in Messrs.. Ret ties' windows, and thereafter latest plaCings will be shown hourly. This procedure will be followed all day to-day and up to the f hour of closing the poll, 12.30 p.m. tomorrow .

Another novel arrangement for showing the pi icings of candidates is being displayed by Mr. T. Adams. This-is in the form' of a miniature racecourse divided into six tracks signifying the different classes in the competition, and the leading horses carrying the numbers of the competitors at the ton of the poll at that particular time. These figures will also bo revised hourly.

Tho ambition of the convenors of the competition was to exceed the amount raised in a similar contest at Hamilton, when £250 was realised. ( The Gisborne Society has alreadv over I £240, and with a strenuous concluding/*, campaign of one and a-half days, when voting naturally will be very heavy, it can be taken for granted that the Hamilton total will Le easily exceeded. Yesterday the funds of the Society received a considerable addition through the medium of a publicluncheon in Messrs. Hetties’ -lounge, a very substantial meal being provided by a band of willing helpers. Eotariansand their wives were present in large numbers, as well as other sections of the public. The tabels seated one hundred and twenty at one sitting, and as fast -as vacancies occurred they were quickly filled. The position of the leaders in the various sections, together with the serial numbers of the photographs, are as follows:
