The Arbitration Court to day hoard a claim for compensation by Lily Louisa Weavers against the Wellington City Council in respect to the death of hen husband while engaged in his work, in the milk department off the council. ft was submitted that lie fell dead from tho combined effects of work and a form of heart disease. lie leftthree children aged 10, six and three years, :amd earned £275 a year. In admitting that it; was- not possible for the corporation to successfully contend 1 that it was) not liable, tho city solicitor, Air. J. O’Slica, suggested that the amount awarded should ho paid to the Public Trustee for him to apportion the money to the plaintiff and tho children. Judgment was given accordingly for Hie amount claimed, £IOOO. and costs including funeral and medical expenses.
