King presided over a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of ,the’Te''Karaka branch on Tuesday.j Owing £6 the general controversy throughout New Zealand branches as to whether the president should be ad. mitted to Farmers’ Union executive meetings, it was resolved to forward the following remit'to' the Poverty' Bay executive: “This branch is of the, opinion that the Press’should be admitted to executive meetings, any confidential'business to” be taken in com-, mittee. ' TENNIS TOURNAMENT. Last week-end a team of players journeyed from .Waerenga-a-hika to Whatatutu. Rain' during the afternoon marred the carrying out of the intended programme, but sixteen sets were played,' Whatatutu players emer-, ging the winners with ten sets' to the visitors’ six'.' (Special to the Times) There was a good attendance at thc'annual meeting of the Rakauroa W.I. Arrangements were made for catering at the Dog Trials next month, and the election of a new committee. The competition was a “Home-made' Vase,’’ this to be a gift for the Institute room. Some very Pretty vases were shown, the winner being Miss L. McLean, with Miss L. Beaufoy second. A guessing competition -'was won by Miss - JC. Shaw. Tlie roll-call was: ‘‘Plant Exchange.'*'
