NATIONAL ANTHEM
THAT ADDED VERSE A letter published in the “Christian Science Monitor.” quotes an added verse to the National Anthem. “God (save the King and America. 5 ’ wli eh is being sung by passengers on the Cunard-White Star boats. “Two empires by the sea, Two peoples great and free, One anthem raise, One race of undent fame, One tongue, one faith we claim One God, [Whose glorious name We love and praise.” “This indeed,’’ it isays, “is a most timely and effective contribution to international goodwill on the part of this trans. Atlantic passenger service between the two English-speaking countries and deserves widespread and favourable recognition and comment.
“At no time have friendship and co operation between Great Britain and the United Kt'ateb been s>o urgent, and statesmen. on both sides of the Atlantic are voicing thU need for closer understanding in meeting international issues. One cannot overestimate the value of any step toward tbit much desired unity which aids in breaking down long cherished prejudices and misunderstandings between the two countries.”
