WEEKLY SERVICE INAUGURATED. ' (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright! LONDON, Jan. 5. The first weekly trans-Atlantic air mail was inaugurated by an Air France plane departing from Croydon for Santiago, via; Toulouse, Dakar, Brazil and Buenos Aires, a. distance oil 936-3 miles, for which the scheduleis four days, which is the fastest-long-distance flight in the world. The Atlantic will he flown with four-engined flying boats evolved after lengthy experiments. The mail service is the first stop to a passenger service in which a 17ton flying boat, provided with sleeping accommodation and crossing the Atlantic in 15 hours veil bo used. Miss Jean Batten sent a message to the undertaking wishing it good luck.
