PILOT LAUNCHES COLLIDE

A serious mishap-necessitating her beaching hurriedly to save her sinking befel tlie Harbor Board’s large pilot launch Arahina in Evans Bay on Sunday morning, the vessel being involved in a collision with the second pilot launch Uta. The arrival of four overseas ships and the departure of the tanker Ahamo, all requiring the services of pilots created heavy pressure on the harbor master's staff. Both launches were actively engaged about the hai bor.
No official information is obtainable, as to the actual cause and, therefore, it c-annot he stated in iv hatway the’ launches became involved! :n the collision; which caused •• serious damage to the Arahina. She was beached in Balena Baj, where she now lies. Salvaging will probably be undertaken on Monday.
