Air. J. Madden, chief postmaster at Dunedin, has been appointed chief postmaster at Wellington in place of- Mr. J. M. McLean, who-has retired on superannuation.—P.A.

An Auckland P.A. message announces the death -of Air Charles Taylor, aged 78 years. The deceased spent more than 42 years, as a marine engineer. He was -second engineer on the steamer Triumph which ran on the rocks at Tiri Island when outward bound from Auckland at the end of 1883, but Inter was refloated. Afr Taylor later joined the Union Company and continued in its employ till his retirement in 1921.

Th Rev. J. H. Boyd, minister in charge of Knox Churc-h, Alangapapa, and St'. David’s, Kaiti, has received notice of his transfer to Woodville. He is at present on liol’day in Rotorua, and is expected to return to Gisborne on January 15. His last services here will be conducted on February 2, and lie is expected to take up bis duties at Woodville on February 9. His successor in Gisborne, the Rev. J. W. Al'artiii.
