Quist’s partner, Miil-epnyet, was not quite tip to his usual good form.In the mixed doubles, Hopman and Jedrejowska defeated Brugnon and Goldschmidt, 6—2. 6—2. In the men’s doubles, Hopman and Pal ad a defeated Sabbadini and Deminerbi, 6—3, 6—4, o—6, 6—3. The Australians Crawford and McGrath , and Turnbull and Quist were each successful in the mixed doubles. NOTES AND NEWS. At Pinehurst, (North Carolina) Allison u r on the major honors in the annual North v. South tennis championship, winning the singles from Gilbert Hall, 6—3, 6—2, 6—4. He paired with Hall and defeated the Canadians Rninville and Watt in the doubles, 6—2, 6—2, 4 —6, B—6. -P.A.
