WITCH’S HAND FOE SALE.
A witch’s hand was bought in for £3 15s after bidding had risen briskly from £2 at an auction sale at Steven’s Rooms, King Street, Covent Garden, London, recently. It was stated in the catalogue that the skeleton hand; which belonged to Mary Holt, who was hanged at Pulborough, Sussex, nearly 2CO years ago, had heen used in the 18th century “to cure all diseases.” A nativity—a cross surrounded by quaint charms in a -glass-topped box .used “to cure witchcraft arid other diseases,” was sold for £ll, and a heart pierced with pins, a: “witchcraft cure” used about 1790, fetched £1 12s 6d.
