ORPHANS’ CLUB. . (Special To The Times). At the annual meeting of the Opotiki Orphans’ Club there was a good attendance. The election o’f officers resulted: Patron, -Mr 11. G. Reeves, president,' Mr A. N. Davies; vicepresidents, Alessrs A. Stephenson, W. Anderson, G. Dawson; hon. secretary, Air F. M. Cipher; hon. treasurer, Air Ij. G. Duff; auditor, Mr A G. Burton; accompanist and conductor, Mr Allan Shaw; chief stewlard,) Mi- A.. Debrecenys; commiteo, Alessrs C. Gave, H. Simpson, F. Isaac, Harvey, Hawkins, AI. O. Kidd, E. O. East, C. Black and A. Debreceny. It was agreed to hold four evenings and a ladies’ evening during the 1925 session, the first to he held on May 28- Nine members were elected. It was agreed that if possible, a visit would be paid to the Rotorua Orphans’ Club this season. THE KING’S JUBILEE. There was not a. very large attendance at a meet'ng convened by the Mayor (Air G. S. Aloofly) to arrange the proceedings in regard to the cele hratioir in Opotiki of the King’s Silver Jubilee. Several apologies were roafl. It was then agreed to appoint Mr W. H. Taylor as secretary The following committee was appointed, with power to add: The Mayor Alessrs .T- B. Gow, J. H. Reid, Rev. G. R. Peterson. D. N. Mac Diarmid, C. C. G. Salt, Father Brady, Messrs Raigont, Short. Jcphson, Burrett, Airs Morrell and Aliss Shaw. Several suggestion were made for the committee’s consideration and the first meeting will he held next week. At the Borough Council’s meeting, It was decided to vote £ls towards the cost on the understanding that the County Council would do the same. PIONEERS ENTERTAINED. At a hanpy 'function held in the Lyric Hall the pioneers of the district were the guest- of the Onotiki Women’s Institute. The function, which is held annirdlv. is oageriv looked forward to by the old people, as it affords an opportunitv for them to renew old ncoumintanees and to eniov ftp excellent musical programme which is irre'ented. The hall was invitinpk- arranged with cosv floorrugs the occasional tables here howls of beautiful blooms. Daintv streamers of green and "old decorated the cediii".
