DELEGATES RETURN FROM SOUTH AFRICA.

They included the New Zealander, Air.’ T. M; Geddis, ol Napier. The attended sixty official functions while touring South Africa and were accorded the greatest hospitality and goodwill. They found u marked uimiiarity in tho problems and aims with their dual. Mr. Geddis said that what possibly was more valuable than all the discussions at the conference were the contact's established . between editors and newspapermen which had enabled them more thoroughly tu understand and appreciate the problems Of the Empire countries. The work of the conference, in his opinion, should have a lasting value The ' establishment of a permanent committee, meeting annually and keeping- a close watch on the development of inter-imperial news services and other' matters affecting newspapermen was a most important step. In addition, there wore instructive debates on broadcasting in relation to newspaperson cable and telegraph press •‘rates and on the laws of "newspaper libel. Delegates had returned with a feeling that all’s well with South Africa, Which is enjoying a period of prosperity owing to the high prices of gold.
