LLOYD GEORGE’S PLAN.
CABINET COMMITTEE MEET .VV'!'W ' TO-DAY.
DEMAND FOR "PROSPERITY” LOAN.
(U.P.A. by Eicc. Tel. Copyright.) (Received April 19, 8 p.m.) LONDON, April 19.
The Morning Post’s political correspondent says that a powerful element in Cabinet, with which Mr. Baldwin is generally associated, is'believed to be anxious to reach an understanding with Mr. Lloyd George, who is meeting a Cabinet committee for the first time to-day. Six meetings have been provisionally arranged. to examine the proposals. Mr. Lloycl.' George’*' friends say that he will not consider co-operation with the Government unless an under standing was given for the flotation of an adequate "Properity” loan and the appointment of a National Development Board of whose personnel he approves. Satisfaction regarding these conditions might leave room for a coinpromise concerning other proposals under the headings of road. land, housing schemes, industrial reorganisation and finance. There is a growing, belief that Ihe meetings will lead to the inclusion -of ‘Mr. Lloyd George in a reconstructed Cabinet.
In the House of Commons budget debate the holiday mood was so pronounced that only eleven out of 615 Commoners were present at one time and the House was continually in danger of being counted out. Mi’. Baldwin was hurriedly called back from dinner to the House.
