FINAL DAY “Art THE EARTH TURNS”' The rural drama “As the Earth Turns'” concludes ifw session at the Majestic tonight, there being ■ no poet ores tomorrow. SATURDAY: “CHAINED” AND “BEST OF ENEMIES” ‘Chained,” which has been described by critics as ‘a film of outstanding merit” will commence a season at the Majestic on Saturday. Both the principals., Clark Gable and \Joan Crawford 1 , have already established a splendid' reputation for themselves in the screen world and the quality of their performance in this production undoubtedly brings them fresh laurels. But although due praise must bo given them, Otto Kruger as Richard! Field portrays the Neiw York business man and husband to whom Jioarr Crawford as Diane Laverley finds herself so unfortunately ‘chained!, ” with such rare skill that his performance also calls for special notice. Stuart Erwin as the irrepressible Johnnie is to be commended for the admirable manner in which, he delivers his very subtl 0 witticism® and for the sincerity of his liero■jvior.silrjr) 'her Alik'e (Bradley iwhjich, part is so* splendidly token by Clark Gable. Hie film is fast moving, covering a diversity of scenes, and interspersed with a refreshing humour There are, however some dramatic moments, when the beautiful. Diane brea.ks one man’s heart to save a man to whom she i s indebted from suffering. .Also screening is an attractive comedy drama ‘Best of Enom jes” featuring iVJjariofti Nixon n.nd Frank while there is another instalment hf the ‘Pirate Treasure’ serial.
