FLOODLIGHT -MEETING

There was a large attendance at Victoria Domain last evening when the Professional Athletic Club presented their usual programme of running, cycling ancl tin hare events. Added attractions in the form of championship events and a special challenge tin hare race were staged. As a result of his win in the mile championship P. Allen annexes the club’s distance championship with 8 points, Al. Leigh being second with 5 points and N. Harvey third with 3 points. Hayward by one fall in the second round with a body press, following a series of tosses from headlocksAn abundance of “fireworks’"’ was the most noticeable feature of a five-round bout in which Awatere beat Reid by two falls to one. In the fiust round Awatere took his first fall with a body press following a hard dump. Reid evened with an aeroplane spin in the third round. In the fifth round Awatere got the deciding fall with an aeroplane spin. The bout was most exciting and was accorded enthusiastic applause.
