SHORT OF CASH

EX-KAISER. WANTS' TO GO BACK TO GERMANY. CANNOT GET It IS OWN MONEY. LONDON, March 2. Ex-Kaiser Wilhelm is once more reported to be hard-up. Ho may soon return to Germany—nob in triumph, but tor lack of ready money. Although he is reported to have possessions worth £25,000000, much of this fortune is, of course, in Germany, and the Berlin Government limits strictly the number of marks that may leave the country. Tbijs| has meant that the ex-Kaiser is kept woefully short of the ready cash necessary to maintain his court: to-day. He receives only a few hundred marks weekly from Germany, and. its- now mainly dependent on his income from investments abroad. The alternative of having supplies sent from the Fatherland instead of cash has been tried, but found impracticable. An appeal to the German Government for special treatment has been turned down. If he returns to Germany he will be able to use bis own money as be pleases. But be cannot have it sent to him abroad. The ex-Kaiser would like to J?ve at Bad Homburg with his son.' Prince Adalbert- The German Government have assured h ; m that they would raise no obstacles, hut they have also made it clear that they would give no offieSal countenance to his return. This does not satisfy Wilhelm. He wants to be asked to come back.
