The first three rounds were very tame, but, thereafter, Strickland was definitely on top, punishing th« titleholder severely. In a. special preliminary, Johnnie Leckie - (9.2). beat S. Brooks (9.8), on points after a bright contest. The Civic Theatre was ’packdj for the tournament.
